Força Estranha

Força Estranha é uma experiência imersiva que mistura narrativas documentais, ficcionais e especulativas para sobrepor um 'espaço' sonoro tridimensional à experiência corporizada do Bairro Alto, em Lisboa. Equipado com fones de ouvido com sinal de rádio, o público embarca numa curta jornada guiado pelas vozes narradoras dos artistas (Po:era | Daniel Weyand e Lucas Lacerda), por composições instrumentais e gravações sonoras originais do bairro.

Durante um curto período de pesquisa de campo e práticas de escuta intuitiva, os artistas se envolvem com as múltiplas histórias que podem 'ler', 'ouvir' e 'sentir' na cidade. Eles procuram estabelecer uma relação íntima com os habitantes, humanos e não-humanos, suas múltiplas linguagens, ritmos e sons – criando uma cartografia afetiva no entorno do Convento de São Pedro de Alcântara.

A caminhada sonora visa estabelecer uma relação com a singularidade desta área, particularmente com os territórios que apontam para a relação do ser humano com a natureza. Simultaneamente, a experiência desdobra uma conexão entre a especificidade destes espaços e uma gama de questões contemporâneas: a atenção aos corpos não humanos, vivos e não-vivos, a presença de narrativas coloniais e patriarcais em nosso cotidiano e suas inscrições na materialidade do bairro. 

A documentação sonora do processo de pesquisa serve como base para a criação da experiência. As composições entrelaçam múltiplas camadas: fragmentos de narrativas documentais e ficcionais, gravação binaural de paisagens sonoras, a presença das vozes dos residentes e a inclusão de instrumentos melódicos. Durante a jornada, o público se envolve ativamente em suas capacidades sensoriais e imaginativas, conectando associações / memórias pessoais e suas ligações diretas e indiretas com a criação coletiva de sentido. Além disso, os participantes não só são convidados a se conectar com a história e a contemporaneidade dos espaços da cidade, mas também são chamados a imaginar seu próprio engajamento nos possíveis futuros da vida.

Força Estranha é projetada para aguçar e potencializar nossa relação afetiva com as forças que nos guiam e com o mistério da vida, sentindo nossas habilidades individuais e coletivas de resposta (response-abilities) como atores criativos no mundo. Ela serve como um estimulador de noções inconscientes e ainda familiares salvas em nossos corpos e não como uma ferramenta moral ou educacional para a reflexão. Ela questiona a história da mente separada em oposição aos sentidos de nossos corpos e a separação de nós mesmos do que construímos e percebemos como natureza.

Strange Force

Força Estranha / Strange Force is an immersive experience blending documentary, fictional and speculative narratives to superimpose a three-dimensional sound 'space' onto the embodied experience of Lisbon's Bairro Alto. Equipped with radio signal headphones, the audience embarks on a short journey guided by the narrating voices of the artists (Po:era | Daniel Weyand and Lucas Lacerda), instrumental compositions and field recordings drawn from the neighbourhood. 

During a short period of on-site research and intuitive listening practices, the artists engage with the multiple stories they can 'read', ‘hear’ and 'feel' in the city. They seek to establish an intimate relationship with its human and non-human inhabitants, its multiple languages, rhythms, and sounds – creating an affective cartography of the surroundings of Convento de São Pedro de Alcântara.

The soundwalk aims at establishing a relationship with the singularity of this area, particularly with the territories that point to humankind’s relationship with nature. Simultaneously the experience unfolds a connection between the specificity of these places and a range of contemporary issues: the attention to non-human bodies, living and non-living, the presence of colonial and patriarchal narratives in our every-day lives and their inscriptions in the materiality of the neighbourhood. 

The sound documentation of the research process serves as the base for the creation of the experience. The compositions interweave multiple layers: fragments of documentary and fictional narratives, binaural recordings of soundscapes, the presence of the voices of residents and the inclusion of melodic instruments. During the journey the audience actively engages in their sensory and imaginative capacities, connecting personal associations / memories and their direct and indirect links to collective sense-making. In addition, the participants are not only invited to connect with the history and contemporaneity of the city spaces, but they are also called upon to imagine their own engagement in life's possible futures. 

Força Estranha / Strange Force is designed to sharpen and potentiate our affective relationship with the guiding forces and the mystery of life, sensing our individual and collective response-abilities as creative actors in the world. It serves as a stimulator of unconscious and yet familiar notions saved in our bodies rather than as a moral or educational tool for reflection. It questions the story of the separate mind in opposition to our bodies’ senses and the separation of ourselves from what we construct and perceive as nature.

Po:era colabora com parceiros locais na Europa e no Brasil para criar espaços experimentais, que entrelaçam conhecimento site-specific e questões filosóficas com narrativas imersivas, que borram as linhas entre a fantasia e a realidade. Seus trabalhos cruzam fronteiras entre a antropologia e as artes performativas, sonoras e audiovisuais.

Po:era collaborates with local partners in Europe and Brazil to create experiential spaces interweaving site-specific knowledge, biographical narratives, and philosophical questions with immersive storytelling that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. Their work combines audio-visual arts, cultural education, and anthropology, as well as performing arts, theatre directing, and production.

Lucas Lacerda & Daniel Weyand (Po:era)

Lucas Lacerda (Brasil) é ator, performer e diretor com formação em artes cênicas. Suas pesquisas incluem práticas artísticas de descolonização dos campos inconscientes e temporários do afeto. Daniel Weyand (Alemanha) é cineasta, editor de som e antropólogo. Atualmente, investiga o poder micropolítico de contar histórias mais do que humanas.

Lucas Lacerda (Brazil) is an actor, performer, and director with a degree in performing arts. His research includes artistic practices of decolonizing the unconscious and temporary fields of affection. Daniel Weyand (Germany) is a filmmaker, sound editor, and anthropologist, currently investigating the micropolitical power of more-than-human storytelling.
